Taking Advantage of Current Opportunities during Brexit Uncertainty

As we head into uncertain times, YoungsRPS are to hold a ‘Farmers Workshop’ to discuss the options available now

YoungsRPS are holding a Farmers Workshop to discuss key issues at what is a particularly crucial time. This will include considerations to take into account when completing Basic Payment Scheme [BPS] applications, and some of the current grant schemes and funding opportunities available to farmers.

Free to attend, this event Seminar will take place at Northallerton Rugby Club on Tuesday 19th March at 7.00pm.

As one of the leading rural agencies operating across the North of England, with local offices in Northallerton and Sedgefield, YoungsRPS and their highly qualified staff have an in depth understanding of the industry. Through individual presentations, they will cover:

  • Agriculture Finance (AMC)
  • Utility Claims
  • Grants and subsidies and their future

A Planning and Development Surgery will also form part of the evening’s workshop.

Edward Boon, Director of YoungsRPS and Agricultural Mortgage Corporation [AMC] Agent based in the Sedgefield office, will provide a summary of the different products that the AMC offer, which may give farmers the chance to re-assess their Agricultural Finance needs.

In her presentation on Utility Claims, Rural Chartered Surveyor Joanne Metcalfe, will discuss farmers’ rights when statutory undertakers want to take entry on their farm and the requirements for them to compensate the farmer for disturbance/crop loss and agents’ fees.

James Thompson, Rural Chartered Surveyor of YoungsRPS, based in the Northallerton and Sedgefield offices, will address a number of points on BPS including the greening requirements for the scheme, the importance of reviewing available greening options annually, ensuring mapping information is correct and the land cover is correct on the Rural Payments system, together with other grants which are available such as Countryside Stewardship, which may provide farmers with a certainty of income for a number of years.

Commenting ahead, James said: “This topical seminar will provide support for farmers and inform them of what could be available to them. As we are drawing nearer to Brexit, it is important that farmers are aware of what is on offer, under the current funding arrangements, their options and what is required for specific schemes.”

Throughout the evening in his Surgery, Richard Morgan, Senior Planning Consultant for YoungsRPS, will be available to answer any queries people may have about Planning and Development, either on a one-to-one or open discussion basis.

James concluded: “We will also touch on the future, including the Agriculture Bill and the move towards “Public Money for Public Goods” and what we think may happen. Through these uncertain times, it can be very confusing as to what the future holds, so we want to reassure farmers and let them know we are here to help.”

Light refreshments will follow after the presentations and we ask that interested parties book in advance for catering purposes. To book a place, please email amanda.wilson@youngsrps.com by Monday 18th March 2019.
