Since GOV.UK published guidance about the drought and its impact on BPS and agri-environment agreements in July, there have been discussions between DEFRA and Natural England regarding failed establishment of Wild bird food plots (AB9), and the capacity for temporary adjustments for other options to allow activities such as grazing where there may be a fodder shortage.
Temporary prescription adjustments (TPA) to some Countryside Stewardship and Environmental Stewardship options have now been agreed by DEFRA. The adjustments run from 14 September to 31 December 2018, unless otherwise stated. The full list is available at GOV.UK Temporary Prescription Adjustments The adjustments are mainly for your own use and to share with the wider community, but should not be for profit. From 1 January 2019 all options will revert to their original prescriptions.
To follow these adjustments you must apply to Natural England. You must still meet with regulatory and cross compliance requirements and consider soil conditions particularly on land which is grazed or used by machinery. The application form is available from GOV.UK Application Form
Email the completed form to email@example.com with the email subject heading 'Temporary Prescription Adjustments'.
