Meet the team: Lynn Nixon

We're extremely proud of our team here at youngsRPS; each and every member brings something different to our wide range of services and we want you to get to know them all a little bit better. We sat down with Lynn Nixon, Manager/Valuer at our Northallerton branch and asked her a few questions...

How long have you been at youngsRPS and give us an overview of what you do day-to-day?
I will have worked for the company for 25 years this spring! I am Branch Manager/Valuer in Northallerton and undertake valuations on behalf of the company for both sales and lettings.

What attracted you to your industry?
Following graduation, I worked in the probate department of one of the major High Street banks and enjoyed getting involved with the sale of estate properties.

What would you say you specialise in?
My degree is in economics so that makes me a specialist in supply and demand; perfect within the ever-changing property sector!

What has been your career highlight?
Being promoted last year to Branch Manager/Valuer.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Managing Vendor expectations following the property crash in 2008.

How do you get the best out of what you do?
By working with the strengths of a professional team.

What do you find most interesting about your industry?
Seeing the variety and styles of available properties and meeting people from all walks of life.

How does what you do link to the other services at youngsRPS?
My experience in the residential sector means that I meet individuals with a variety of needs and differing circumstances. I am able to call upon the expertise of colleagues within the planning, commercial and rural departments to ensure that my clients are able to make their dreams become a reality. I have to say, it’s fantastic to be able to have such a wide range of property services under one roof!

What do you see for the future of development in and around the North East?
We regularly meet individuals who have tired of the congestion and the high paced way of life in some of the areas further south. They are usually pleasantly surprised to discover that North Yorkshire offers good value for money as an area in which to invest in a property, whilst remaining accessible to major centres for employment, so they migrate North. The spectacular scenery of course comes for free!
