Rural: Countryside Productivity Small Grant Scheme Round Three

Wed 7 October 2020

The final round of the Countryside Productivity Small Grants Scheme (CPSG) opened this morning, meaning that farmers can now apply for grants between £3,000 and £12,000 to buy new and innovative equipment.

The purchase of equipment that can help improve efficiency and benefit the environment is crucial in order to prepare for the future of agricultural funding, where schemes will be designed to support innovative farming as well as protecting the environment.

So far, we know it will be modelled on:
  • Rewarding public goods with public money
  • Achieving a thriving self-reliant farming system
  • Achieving a trusting and productive relationship between the Government and farming
  • World class animal welfare standards
Farmers can apply for the CPSG Scheme until 4th November 2020, meaning that time is of the essence. We are currently waiting for the handbook to be released which will detail the list of eligible equipment – we are expecting this later today.

In previous rounds, eligible equipment has included items such as:
  • Electronic weigh systems
  • GPS for precision farming
  • Seed drills
  • Tractor mounted sensor to determine the nitrogen status of the crop
  • Yield Mapping
Investing in equipment that will deliver public and environmental benefits is crucial in the preparation towards new agricultural funding structures and eligibility.
